Posttower, Trinkpavillon, Schaumburg
During VIDEONALE.20, screenings of individual video works and performances took place at various locations in Bonn's urban space. For a few days during the festival, the Bad Godesberg drinking pavilion, the Posttower and the Schaumburg became venues for healing water aperitifs, sound baths, lecture performances and video evenings.
SOUNDBADEN
Performance and DJ set
Location: Trinkpavillon, Stadtpark Bad Godesberg
The drinking pavilion, built in 1969/70, is located near the drilling site of the Kurfürstenquelle spring in the city park of Bonn-Bad Godesberg. Since 2017, Bürger.Bad.Godesberg e. V. has been serving the healing water there. On the opening weekend of VIDEONALE.20, artist Paula Erstmann set up a buffet with a healing water aperitif in front of the drinking pavilion. In the evening, artist Mark Bain allowed visitors to the Trinkpavillon to feel the vibrations of the building in his live performance THE ARCHISONIC. To do this, he used sound waves that can be heard and physically felt. Bain transmitted the pavilion's own vibrations using seismic sensors, which can register the smallest vibrations, and amplified them via a loudspeaker system. This turned the drinking pavilion into a walk-in musical instrument. Following the live performance, the Bonn Treibgut collective played a DJ set. In cooperation with: Bürger.Bad.Godesberg e.V.
ALLES LIEFERBAR?
Watching and talking together
Location: Post Tower, Sky Garden, 12th floor, Bonn
Screening of ANIMA OVERDRIVE by Stefan Panhans & Andrea Winkler
»I deliver eggplants. I deliver liver. I deliver liveliness and perfect selfie light«: In the video ANIMA OVERDRIVE by Stefan Panhans & Andrea Winkler, a person raps a series of material and non-material goods that they promise to deliver, in an ever-accelerating rhythm. Whether apples or fantasies: everything seems to be orderable, deliverable and consumable at any time. But at what price for a society whose economic system turns almost everything into goods that can be delivered at the click of a mouse? Panhans & Winkler address the state of impending exhaustion of the “anima” (soul) due to excessive stress (overdrive). During the VIDEONALE.20, we showed ANIMA OVERDRIVE (in English with separate subtitles) on various monitors on the 12th floor of the Post Tower in Bonn, the headquarters of the logistics group Deutsche Post. In a lecture performance, Stefan Panhans & Andrea Winkler gave insights into their artistic work.
DIE SCHAUMBURG ALS KINO. STUDENTS FROM ART ACADEMIES PRESENT THEIR WORKS
Watching and talking together
Location: Schaumburg, Hochstadenring 49A, Bonn
The Schaumburg is a former workshop hall in Bonn's Nordstadt district that is used as an exhibition and event venue. Its name is borrowed from the Palais Schaumburg of the same name in the government district of the former federal capital Bonn; a 19th century city villa that was the first official residence of the Federal Chancellery from 1949 to 1976. On May 9 and 10, 2025, the Schaumburg was transformed into a cinema hall in which students from the classes of Prof. Nina Fischer (Berlin University of the Arts), Prof. Ute Hörner (KHM, Cologne), Prof. Tessa Knapp (Alanus University, Alfter) and Prof. Clemens von Wedemeyer (Academy of Visual Arts, Leipzig) projected their works into the room.
